Ministry Descriptions
WAVE Games are a series of
team-based, competitive events that require extensive skill, performance,
teamwork, and...well...not really...WAVE-Games are all about FUN. WAVE-Games
Competitions are typically held on the first Sunday of each month
Lunch Bunch is a time for Students to spend Sunday afternoon eating lunch together. Usually at Taco Bell or the Mellow Mushroom.
P.O.P. or “Power of Prayer” is a dynamic time of prayer and fellowship. Participants are strengthening their relationships with God and one another by living lives of “Prayerful Dependence.” God is blessing our student ministry as He answers the prayers offered at P.O.P. Students meet on most Monday nights in the home of Kenny and Jennifer Wright. However, there are nights when participants meet at our house then together we go and pray with families or individuals that demonstrate a need for group prayer and encouragement
Prayer Walks provide an excellent opportunity for our students to spend a day praying with the men, women and children of our community. This is a specific ministry that has grown out of POP and JINO. The idea is to share prayer and demonstrate that Greenbrier is a Church that seeks to connect with people in a manner Christ did.
Service Days are days that we intentionally conduct a service project for the Greenbrier family or our community
Chic-@-Night is specifically designed for our young ladies in order for relationships to be strengthened and a great time to be had by all. Devos, DDR, and girl talk are the order of the evening. This is event is scheduled throughout the year and usually involves a sleepover. Jennifer Wright leads this ministry.
S.A.L.T. (Student – Action – Leadership – Team) involves our teens in the leadership and ownership of our student ministry. Students who serve on this team must be active participants in our ministry living a life consistent with that Christ has called us to! This leadership team will meet approximately twice each month during the school year. These meetings will involve team members: praying for the ministry, event planning and evaluation, idea sharing, student follow-up, etc…
Teen Led Assembly is an exciting time for our teens to lead us to the heart of God in worship. It’s a time for our teens to further develop their abilities and to lead the assembly in prayer, scripture reading, speaking, singing, puppets, etc… TLW participants will prepare for the evening. This preparation time begins with prayer as together we seek God’s guidance and wisdom in selecting the passages, songs, prayer content, and other aspects of the evening that go into our assembly time together. Participants are taught to see themselves as jars of clay with Christ being the treasure. Students will also display artwork, poems, photography, etc… that follows the theme.
Winter Retreat’s (a.k.a. Winter Blast) provide a great atmosphere for growing closer to God and each other. Don’t miss out on this amazing experience that promises to be a Winter Blast! The Cost is $45 and includes meals, housing, t-shirt, and much-much more!
Christmas Party / Angel is a themed event that will have you smiling for the Holidays. This holiday season our students will target two specific families to help with Christmas. We will follow this up with a Black Tie Christmas Party! It’s a chance to serve others and celebrate what God is doing in and through our student ministry.
Gulf Coast Getaway is a Christian conference for our college students and high school seniors. They will join students from all over the Southeast in Panama City to enjoy a weekend of praise & worship, learning from God's word, Christian fellowship, and fun on the beach! This is a weekend packed with excitement and potential for spiritual growth! Those who come are able to meet new people, learn of mission opportunities and campus ministries, and praise God together! We hope that you will choose to be a part of this year's Getaway! Cost: $50 (registration, lodging, and 3 meals)
Winter Fest is an exciting experience as our junior high and high school teens join thousands of other teens from all over the southeast to praise God and fellowship with one another. They are exposed to great Christian concerts; thousands singing and praying together, topnotch speakers, amazing time with their friends and some really cool sites. We leave on Thursday afternoon and return on Sunday night. Winter Fest is held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, as are our accommodations at the Mountain Heritage Inn. Don’t miss it! Cost: $100 (registration, concert, hotel stay, and includes 5 meals).
R.U.S.H. week is a great time for junior high and high school students in our community to come check out the Greenbrier Student Ministry and see what we're like. Truth is that R.U.S.H. takes place year round. However, we have decided to intentionally use Spring Break ’06 to identify, attract, inform, and invite students through personal contact and group activities. Students will get a chance to watch us in action, find out how to become a part of our ministry while meeting some great people and an even greater LORD in the process. And don't forget the food!! R.U.S.H. week is a weeklong time of fun and fellowship as we spend the week Reaching Up - Serving Him! Cost: TBA
Spring Retreat will be a highlight of our spring. This weekend retreat is spent with your friends while learning more about Christ and His love for us. Teens will have times of recreation, Bible study, and it is our prayer that they will truly meet Jesus as never before. Don’t miss out on this amazing experience that promises to rock the world. The Cost is $75 and includes meals, housing, t-shirt, and much-much more!
Senior Banquet is a night of food and fun as together we honor our graduating seniors. These soon to be “Rhodes Scholars” will spend the evening laughing and making memories, as they are share a great meal served by the underclassmen. Come and enjoy at a cost of $10.
Sunday Morning and Wednesday Night Bible Studies occur each Sunday and Wednesday in the Greenbrier House. This is a time for our students to learn from God’s Word and to discover how it applies to their lives and to the lives of others.
OTB or Out of the Box occurs each Sunday evening in the Greenbrier House. We seek creative and relevant ways to share the message and hope of Christ with junior high and high school students. We encourage our teens to invite their friends to OTB as a way of introducing them to God and His family.
Mystery Events are events such as paintball, lock-ins, guy’s night out, six flags, bowling, that we use to build relationships with our students and their friends. Our teens know that a Mystery Event is one they can bring a friend to and have fun. Why a “Mystery” because we plan them as we go with the help of our students.
